PostSubject: Post your UI   Post your UI Icon_minitimeMon May 18, 2009 11:52 am

So I've been talking about how my UI is arranged now and wanted to post it. I tried to fit as much of the crap that goes on in it as possible, and I'll explain what everything is.

Post your UI WoWScrnShot_051809_112647

Firstoff, there are two big symbols in the middle of the screen that you see around my character. The blue aura signifies that I have a Freezing Fog proc (this lets me cast Howling Blast free of cost and resets the cooldown). The white sword means that I can use Rune Strike (only useable after I dodge or parry). For this screenshot I just turned them on so you could see, rather than go find a mob and proc Freezing Fog / Rune Strike.

To the left you see a timer for Sated, that's because I'm targeting myself at the time. This is part of Quartz, I show all debuffs on my current target because it helps to see how long I have left on my diseases and whatnot.

Below that are several cooldowns that I want to track. I probably should've used one so you could see, but when one of those spells is on cooldown it triggers a red bar that counts down time remaining so at a quick glance I can quickly see what is available and what isn't. This addon is called CooldownWatch, and is very simplistic, and easy to use, requiring minimal setup time. The reason I chose this cooldown addon was because it lets me pick and choose each specific CD I want to track, rather than deal with the headache of addons like Heatsink and Cooldowntimers.

Below my character there is the number 0 in light blue, this is my Runic Power, being tracked by an addon called Digits. Digits is just a small numeric display for mana/rage/energy/RP and health, you can move the numbers anywhere on your screen, and also change it to track % or straight numbers. I've turned health display off because I don't process health very well as a number, it's much easier for me to glance at a bar and process that.

Right below my RP count are my runes. I've wanted a nice rune tracking addon since I started DK, but they're all very flashy and over-the-top. This addon is called Yury's Rune Display, and is very simple, all it does is allow you to move the Blizzard runes around the screen, and scale them up or down, as well as reshape them as a semicircle or vertically if you prefer. I like the flat horizontal look, but I enjoy having them right below my character so I'm not constantly staring at my unit frame.

Below my runes is my castbar, I know a lot of people use this one, but that's Quartz, the same addon I use to track debuffs. I haven't enabled the enemy castbar as you can see, but I might, we'll see. It also tracks the GCD for me, which is really handy.

To the right of that are some buttons that are there for a few reasons. My presences and Army of the Dead / Raise Ally are there because I don't use those spells very often and prefer to click them. It also makes it a lot easier for me to realize I'm in the wrong precense because it's right in my face all the time. Rune Strike is on there because while I have an aura to tell me when I can use it, it's easier to glance and see if it's toggled or not, rather than having to watch a swing timer.

Mind Freeze is there because it's a really short CD and I didn't want to add it to my cooldown watcher(since I rarely need it more than every 10sec), so I just have it there so I can see it on the rare occasion I need to. I also have it bound to a key-press which isn't visible here. Next to that is my taunt, Death Grip and Icy Touch. I also have all of these bound to keys that aren't visible here, but the reason they're in that spot is for checking range. DG and taunt have a 30yd range, and Icy Touch has a 20yd range, and if I'm not in range to use one of them the entire button goes red, which is easy to see and react to. I did stumble across an addon or two that tracks distance but they were very clunky and unreliable, this is far more practical.

Next to those button setups is Omen, and below Omen I have a small set of buttons that I use out of combat, my mounts, my pets, my profs, that kinda thing.

You'll notice I don't have my action bars visible, and this is because I find it distracting. When I used to play with them down there all the time I would often tunnel vision as a tank since I'm constantly spamming my next skill and I would watch to see if it fired and what was available, and possibly miss something important like missle crosshairs. Since all my keybinds are memorized anyway, I figured doing away with them was a good move, and it turned out to be very liberating.

The only thing I haven't really changed yet is unitframes, and I may just leave them alone. I like the default unit frames and see no real reason to change them (though if I were a healer, I would). I'm curious as to what some other people's UIs look like, if anyone else has customized at all, so let's see em~

my epic UI defaultness

Post your UI Cqlur2n79ibh5am86o7u_trivui

pretty much entirely default, bottom right is Recount, Omen, and Grid (I like to know who dies, how many people die etc) and then DBM pops up in the middle of my screen a bit above my character, and I also uses Scrolling Combat Text

My favourite part of your UI is that you have a macro called PWN.

Post your UI Wowscrnshot052109032607

Addons Used:

Omen
SexyMaps
Skinner
Bartender4
Elkano's BuffBars
Grid
SimpleUnitFrames
Quartz

I'm still fooling around with a few things, but I really like how it is right now.
Grid is set up to show (for our 10 man raids) 5 players across the top (group 1) and 5 players across the bottom directly underneath (group 2). I'll take a screenshot during a raid this weekend to show that better.
Some Unit Frame options were left default because I was getting too confused with them looking so drastically different then what I'm used to silent . Pitbull was a little too much, so I got SimpleUnitFrames which let me make a couple small adjustments to them, but nothing very extreme.
And FYI my Omen isn't spazing out, I just put it on "Test Mode" so it was visible in the screenshot.

I'll post my cat UI later when I'm not sleepy. It's pretty much the same but with BadKitty and ComboPointRedux.

Also, trees make silly faces while casting spells. scratch

Wow Ash. That is pretty wild. I like it. What is the mod that makes the whole bottom part? I've always seen ppl use them but never cared for it. That's very nice. Good work

The bottom part is Skinner and I'm not 100% sure I'm going to keep it. A couple of the latest comments for it on Curse said it was causing a lot of lag issues. I haven't had any problem with it yet, but it'll be the first to go if I start lagging out during a raid. Wink

That looks cool. I demand to know what the ohshi button does, NS+HT?
This is one of the first screenshots i've seen where grid doesn't look dumb.

Hahah yep! ohshit always has and always will be NS+HT.

My grid used to be huge, on the left side of the screen and white but it definitely looks tidier down at the bottom and with darker colouring. As soon as I can get the resto druid grid addon to work properly it'll finally be complete. Razz

I use:

Call of Elements
Maracoon (Trinity)
Healbot
Heatsink

Call of Elements is in the center, right under my character. It allows easy access to my totems. I set it so that three base totems are seen and when mouse cursor rolls over it expands to show all totems.

Maracoon is my bar mod that I use. I do prety much anything with my bars. My Spell Bar has all my spells with key bindings using 1-5, alt+1-alt+6, and ctrl+1-ctrl+6. Then I have other keys binded: R is Bloodlust, F is Nature's Swiftness, V is Tidal Force, and T is Totemic Call. R,F, and V are my famous "Ohh SHIT: Buttons.

Despite Grid and Clique being exceptional for healing I still use Healbot. I really like its set-up and functionality.

It's not shown but I am using Heatsink for my Cooldowns.

That's about it I think. Ohh and I keep game in windowed mode for those "He is explaining the raid again. I'm a healer and don;t need to pay attention. PORNZ!"

I've made a lot of changes to my UI to clean it up and make it more compact, and, well, attractive.

Post your UI Wowscrnshot052809120728

My buffs and debuffs are displayed with an addon called Elkano's Buff Bars, I like them a lot better than just the icons.

The map is SexyMap.

And I picked up that cooldown mod that Phil is using because I was sick of CooldownWatch, it was far too clunky and took up a lot of space.

The bar at the bottom is skinner, which Ashley helped me setup because I liked the way her UI looked a lot.

And the bar with my pets / mounts / profs fades during combat.

I'm still looking to setup some new unitframes, but that will take me even more time, and this took quite a while in itself.

I like what you've done with it. I cannot wait for my new comp because I'm going to spruce mine up just a bit. I like where it's at but I need to do something with the Unit Frames. I'm not a fan of Pitbull or Perl so atm, i do not have a target UI. I just have to set focus on my target or watch hit boxes =/

What it looks like now. Grid is setup so people with a shield will have a white border, red border if the shield breaks and they have Weakened Soul. Bottom right tracks PoM. Bottom left tracks renew on the tanks and Divine Aegis on others. Top left is who has aggro. Top right is magic debuffs and diseases.

Still need to do some tweaking, but thats what it looks like now.
